FEELINGS AS A SACRED GATEWAY
In “The Way of the Sensate”, we explore even more subtle feeling states that we judge or identify with so completely that we don’t even realise we’re in it..
By exploring these states beyond their story of what we think they are, they come alive in surprising and sacred ways.
We explore more activated states such as anger, shame and confusion.
Through to more neutral vibrations, such as dissociation, sleepiness and dullness.
Through to the vibrations of desire, thinking and futurising.
However, we’re not exploring them as problematic. The Way of the Sensate is using these states to recognise more and more uninhabited aspects of your wholeness. Rather than something we want to get rid of, these states point to where we want to be … with consciousness.
The present moment that we’ve spent lifetimes trying not to feel.
Our feelings aren’t the problem, they’re our gateway home.
THE INTELLIGENCE OF "NEUTRAL"
Dissociation, numbness and sleepiness are not what they seem. Their vibrations are so subtle and slow that we either don’t notice them or we blend with them unconsciously. We have such collective judgements on these states that whole realms of experience remain inaccessible to us. Inhabiting them with presence offers gifts beyond measure.
THE GIFT OF INTENSITY
The feelings we classify as unpleasant and painful are the ones we really learn to navigate with. When they’re so loud, the ways you meet and welcome them become more visible.
The “distance” of your awareness to feelings also becomes palpable.
Too close to feeling and you will get drawn into it, and therefore follow your habitual and repetitive protective strategies.
Too far away and you’ll fall into thinking or sleep.
But when you meet feelings from a distance, with a peripheral vision that is welcoming and relaxed, a new relationship begins to happen.
PLEASURE & RELAXATION
When navigating the depths of the unconscious, relaxation is a key. Without softening our gaze and meeting our feeling body with SO much space, the intensity of our conditioning means we are unable to witness our experience from the body. This is different to witnessing from the mind.
Relaxation and non-focused attention support us to make room for the vibrations we have spent our lives being terrified to feel.
As these sensations are finally given room to breathe, our system begins to down-regulate in profound ways. Noticing relaxation and taking supports us to stay down at this depth of unknown.

WHY PRACTICE?
The benefit of being a feeler is that these practices bring your experience to life in a way that gives you much more understanding and insight than ever before. The Achilles Heal of being a feeler, however, is that because of the intensity of the feelings, it can feel so solid and true. Without practice, our awareness keeps being drawn into the fragmented state and it feels impossible to not believe it.
With these practices, we start to get an actual felt sense of wholeness and the capacity to meet our experience differently. They’re extremely nourishing and potent in the feeling realm.
So they end up being what we WANT to do. They don’t take effort, we just have to remember to recognise when we’re in a fragment and take a new path. This takes training.
When we keep moving from highly activated states into deeply down-regulated states that are nourishing and filled with compassion and insight, it starts to be intrinsically motivating.
Ultimately it Feels like This
It might be hard to believe, but when you learn to be with your feeling body and give them room to breathe, then practice should feel like this.
If not, you’re too close. When you meet your feelings beneath the habitual perception of what you think they are, they become nourishing, replenishing and wildly illuminating.

Meeting Intensity with Love
Feelings are not your trauma. They are not the obstacles to awakening. They are not the things to be tamed and overcome. They are the energies of existence that we have collectively misperceived. We live so deeply in the masculine aspect of our consciousness that the darkness has been feared forever. As we learn to soften, welcome and change the WAY we meet our experience, it finally has room to breathe and reveal the sacredness of these trapped sensations and vibrations.
